As many of you know, a few months ago I decided to scrap my online life and step back in the shadows. Doing this had many purposes; the biggest one being I wanted to get back to writing and stop pretending like I was this author that everyone loved. It's been almost five months now since I wiped the slate on my online ego and I'm happy to share that I have indeed been back in the writing chair. Because of that success, I wanted to share a few details of what I've been working on while still staying behind the scenes. I have an invitation for you at the end of this post, so stick around and find out. :).
What's Taking Shape:
If I told you I had three writing projects on my desk, would you believe me? In the midst of being a substitute teacher (hoping to secure a full-time position in 2027), going to grad school (an accelerated program to get my Master's and a K-6 license), and all my other roles, I've been a busy one with my fiction and non-fiction writing, too.
Anchored For Life
After being a military spouse for 18 years, I finally did it. I wrote a memoir. I took ten of the biggest lessons I've learned about the lifestyle and woven my own personal stories into the pages. Because I don't like writing without helping, I decided to set this book up to be a self-help book for military spouses and anyone considering the lifestyle. At the end of each personal story there is a lesson and a prompt to give those who may choose or have chosen the lifestyle something to ponder. This book isn't to change anyone's mind about joining or marrying someone who has. We all have stories within us that can change other people's lives, mostly for the better. I think we should share them.
The Marriage Bucket List
This is my newest novel and while I was planning on sharing the title with my email list...I don't have one. Well, two people who are my besties in real life and I tell them everything anyway. TMBL is a story about two people, once in love, and desperate to grow their family. When they hit road bumps along the way, a helpful therapist encourages them to go back to the beginning. Unlike my last couple of stories, this one borders on the lines of romance...but without calling it that as it's more small town women's fiction. I'm having so much fun getting to know my characters and navigating them through this treacherous journey back to one another.
Untiled
While my third project isn't in progress on paper, it's a story that's been spinning around in my mind for the last decade. I've gone back and forth on the opening, the overall plot, and how it ends. I never start writing until things feel "locked in", and for now...it'll stay in my brain until it's time to put the words onto paper. I will begin this one likely in 2028. Until then, I'll sit with it when I'm not working on other projects.
Final Thoughts:
I haven't been silent. I've been working. This is the best thing that I could have done for this season of my life. And I look forward to finding my way back to socials if <--- or when I decide on where the new social home for my books will be. Happy Reading.
